Introducing Lithia I and II
To continue in my seasonal colour conversations based on the eight celtic seasons I would like to introduce you to Lithia I and II. A dreamy little pair of mini abstracts.
We have drifted from a soft spring into a gentle summer. Roses rising among crisp apple green leaves, hollyhocks are blooming, shouting, singing loudly and these hazy days are a colour sensation.
For me this is a season I will always look on fondly, a time when we shifted our lives to leafy Wiltshire, exploring and getting to know the countryside around us. A time when my little boy developed a love for the his new wild garden, mooing loudly at the cows in nearby fields.
In an earlier blog I’ve spoken about this project that I started at the beginning of the year, of how reading the book ‘Slow seasons’ by Rosie Steer really struck a chord with me, this idea of being very present within the seasons but also recognising the nuances between them as the Celtic calendar did. Setting apart 8 different seasons rather than our standard 4. My idea was to embrace the seasonal colours, the ones that jump out to me, that capture something of that season or of that moment. Of course colour is fairly abundant, so it wasn’t about capturing it all, but harnessing the ones that spoke to me, that made my heart sing, that kept me within that moment.
